Can you identify and source Kier’s valuable data and build pipelines to drive actionable insights? You will be part of a dynamic team, working closely with both IT colleagues and the business users to enable change through the use of data.

Key Responsibilities

In the role of Data Engineer you will work with business leaders, Heads of IT and business process and data owners to identify operational opportunities to leverage data to increase revenue, create operational efficiencies or drive increased compliance across the Kier enterprise. You will use technology to enable access to resident and external data sources for the purposes of value creation, as well as cataloguing existing data sources, identifying new data sources, and adding these to the catalogue for future use.  You will create data pipelines from identified data sources to create and lead efficient and repeatable analytics projects to improve business decision making, contributing to the definition and communication of data governance policies and principles aligned to the overarching Data Architecture principles.  In addition you will provide support for data owners to establish and enforce guidelines for data collection, integration and processes across the enterprise.

What are we looking for?

You will need the ability to articulate complex technology concepts across various data stakeholders with experience of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) technologies and business intelligence tools from platform providers including Microsoft and Oracle. Significant knowledge with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, Hadoop, Teradata etc.) is essential as well as Master Data Management (MDM), data warehousing, data modelling and familiarity with data science concepts.  If you have worked with in scripting languages including Python and R and have experience with data pipeline methodologies and tooling, specifically on the Microsoft Azure Data stack, including Data Factory, Data Bricks and Azure Data Lake Gen2 then this could be the role for you!
